Host Palmer sweeps Moose Mini track and field meet

The Palmer track and field team swept the boys and girls classes during the Moose Mini Meet Tuesday afternoon at Palmer High School.

The Moose also swept the relay events, winning both the boys and girls 800 and 1,600-meter relays. The Palmer boys finished with 235 total points in the team standings. The girls had 230.

Hudson Ladd led Palmer with a pair of boys individual wins. Ladd was first in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 18.57 seconds, and won the high jump with a mark of 4 feet, 8 inches. Teigan Copp was first in the 1,600 with a time of 5:20.09.

Abby Pettit won the shot put for the Palmer girls, with a throw of 35-0. Avery Johnson was first in the high jump, at 4-6. Karley Tichenor won the 800 with a time of 2:36.53.

Colony finished second in the boys standings with 197 points. Grant Ousley led the Knights with a win in the shot put on a throw of 36-2.75.

Susitna Valley finished second on the girls side with 190 points. Heidi Bedingfiled won the 200 with a time of 28.96. Calla Fish was first in the 1,600 with a time of 5:49.10. Eilish Kennan was first in the 300 hurdles at 53.92.

Jacob Shockey (25.04) won the 200, and Cayman Kingery (25.04) was first in the 300 hurdles for the Su Valley boys.

Myles Campbell won the long jump with a mark of 38-11.75 to lead Redington.

Wasilla’s Kichelle Frizzelle won the girls long jump at 30-5.
