EIELSON AFB — The Houston Hawks capped a three-day tour of the Interior with a 59-49 nonconference boys basketball win over the Eielson Ravens at Eielson Air Force base on Saturday.
Senior Bryan Mason scored a team-high 17 points to help the Hawks erase the early 59-49 deficit. Senior Scott Herman added 14 in the win.
Dwayne Fearon scored nine of his game-high 18 points in the first quarter to lead the Ravens.
In girls’ action, Eielson scored a 59-20 win over Houston.
The Ravens stormed out to a 24-9 lead in the first half.
Patriots sweep Hawks
FAIRBANKS — Despite Houston’s 18-point fourth-quarter rally, the North Pole Patriots held on for a 65-60 Mid-Alaska Conference win over the HHS boys at North Pole High School on Friday.
Houston scored 12 of its 18 fourth-quarter points from behind the three-point line.
Herman led the Hawks with 22. Zack Qual hit three of Houston’ four three-pointers during the final period, and scored nine of his 15 points during the final 15 minutes of play.
The Houston girls were also dealt a loss at NPHS. The score was unavailable.
Hawks fall at West Valley
FAIRBANKS — The West Valley girls capped a 38-point first half with a 17-0 run, and cruised to a 60-18 win over Houston at West Valley High School last Thursday.
The West Valley boys followed with a 64-43 win over Houston. Mason led the Hawks with 13 points.
The Houston boys are in action again on Thursday, hosting Ketchikan at 6 p.m.
