Houston boys earn four wins on road trip

The Houston Hawks cruised to four boys basketball wins during a road trip to Southeast Alaska last week.

Houston beat both Mt. Edgecumbe and Sitka twice.

Five players scored in double digits to help Houston grab a 73-35 win over Mt. Edgecumbe during the final day of the trip, Jan. 29. Braden Cork (19 points), Noah Whitted (14), Cole Taylor (13), Hunter Jefferson (11) and Cody Wyrick (10) had at least 10 each.

Houston beat Mt. Edgecumbe 80-56 the day before. Whitted was 11 of 14 from the free throw line and scored a game-high 21. Taylor added 17. Cork and Wyrick chipped in 14 each, and Jefferson scored a dozen.

Jefferson started the road trip with a double-double during a 69-49 win over Sitka. He finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Hayden Howard scored a game-best 24. Taylor added 16.

Houston also had a 72-44 win over Sitka. Cork led the Hawks with 17. Jefferson scored 17. Wyrick had 14, and Whitted finished with 11.

The Houston girls finished 0-4 during the road trip.
