Hayden Howard scored 35 points to lead the Houston Hawks to an 87-75 boys basketball win over the Palmer Moose Jan. 21 at Houston High.
Howard finished 13 for 23 from the field, and hit five three-pointers. Cole Taylor hit 7 of 13 three-point attempts and scored 24 points. Hunter Jefferson added 13.
Houston shot 48 percent as a team in the game, and 47 percent from beyond the arc. Palmer shot 60 percent from the floor in the loss.
Taylor also had a game-high eight assists in the win. Cody Wyrick added five points, six assists and four steals.
Elzavier Bradley led the Moose with a double-double, recording 22 points and 11 rebounds. Arin Mathis added 18 points. Evan Rothenbuhler scored 25, and Kael Galliher chipped in 11.
The Colony Knights capped the three-day Alaska Airlines Classic with a 64-45 win over the Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears Jan. 22 at West Anchorage High School.
Kash Luce led the Knights with 23 points. Jayce Underwood scored 21, and Harvey Pullen added 10.
Colony opened the tournament with a 63-45 loss to Thunder Ridge, a team from Colorado. Pullen scored a team-high 15. Dimond beat Colony 54-36 during the second day of the tourney. Luce scored 13 points.
