Houston boys score four conference wins on the road

A Houston standout hit a career milestone as the Hawks earned four conference wins during a long weekend in Sitka.

Houston guard Cole Taylor hit 1,000 career points during a victory over Mt. Edgecumbe. Taylor was sent to the free throw line for a 1-and-1 opportunity, and hit both shots for his 999th and 1,000th career points. Taylor is the second member of the Houston boys to hit 1,000 career points this season. Fellow Hawks standout Hayden Howard also achieved the feat earlier this year.,

Houston capped its trip with a 90-66 win over Mt. Edgecumbe on Saturday. Taylor hit seven three-pointers and led the Hawks with 33 points. Deegan VanDussen notched a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Howard added 19 points.

Houston beat the Braves 63-54 the night before. Howard shot 16 of 32 from the floor and scored 42 points. VanDussen led Houston with 11 rebounds.

Houston also beat Sitka twice.

The Hawks opened their trip with a 73-65 win over the Wolves. Howard scored a game-high 29 points. Noah Whitted finished with 16. Taylor and VanDussen added 11 and 10 points.

The Hawks also beat Sitka 62-55. Howard scored 35 points.
