HOUSTON — The Houston Hawks scored a big Mid-Alaska Conference win on Thursday.
Senior Scott Kramer scored a game-high 23 points to lead Houston to a 65-57 win over West Valley in its MAC season opener at Houston High.
The Hawks scored 22 points in the third quarter and survived West Valley’s 25-point fourth en route to the win. Kramer hit three of Houston’s four three-pointers in the game. All three of his treys came in the first half.
Forwards Phillip Pease and Theo Stone combined for 23 points and seven rebounds in the victory. Kramer was 8 for 8 from the free-throw line, and Pease was 6 for 6 from the stripe. Houston finished 21 for 25 from the free throw line in the game and shot nearly 50 percent from the field.
Russ Ruta led Houston with five rebounds and three assists.
