HOUSTON - The Houston boys basketball team pulled out two thrilling victories last weekend, downing Nikiski 51-49 and then narrowly defeating Seward 52-49 Saturday.
Against Nikiski, Peter Clemens scored five fourth-quarter points, while Jeff Huston had four of his team-high 17 points in the final quarter to give the Hawks a lift past the Bulldogs. In addition to Hustons 17, Billy Cannon had 13 points and Clemens finished with 10 to pace the Hawks.
Nikiskis Jeremy Kouf scored 20 points, but Houston limited him to only three in the pivotal fourth quarter.
Against Seward, Cannon had the hot hand for the Hawks, as he scored a game-high 21 points, with nearly all of them coming in the second and fourth quarters. Cannon only had two points in the first, but then exploded for 10 more in the second quarter. The rest of the Hawks only scored two points.
After being held scoreless in the third, Cannon again got on a roll, pouring in nine in the fourth quarter.
Huston scored 11, while Travis Webb chipped in with eight points, including two three-pointers in the first quarter.
Houston outscored Seward 21-10 in the first quarter to take a commanding lead.

ACS sweeps Su Valley
The Su Valley Rams were swept by visiting Anchorage Christian Tuesday, as the Lions girls team beat Su Valley 60-32 and the boys team downed the Rams 72-55.
Ireta Dehlin led the Su Valley girls team with 16 points, half of the Rams total.
Danielle Pratt had six, while Taffy Fox and Anika Swed each had four.
Josh Pratt and Michael Blanton each had 18 for the Su Valley boys team, while Jed Wick chipped in with 12 points.
