NIKISKI — Savanna James scored eight of her game-high 17 points in the second quarter to lead the Houston Hawks to a 45-36 win over the Dillingham girls during the first day of the Nikiski Tip-Off tournament at Nikiski High School on Thursday.
James, who finished with eight field goals, posted all but two of her team’s 10 points in the second. She also scored six in the third.
Savannah Ritter added 10 points, scoring eight in the first half.
The Hawks defense held Dillingham to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters, but Dillingham erupted for 18 points in the fourth.
The Houston boys completed a sweep of Dillingham in the round-robin style tourney with a 43-39 win. Houston used a 20-point third quarter to grab the win.
Scott Kramer scored a game-high 16 for Houston.
The Hawks continue tourney play today.
