VALDEZ — The Houston Hawks held on to score a 37-33 win over Nome-Beltz on Saturday, the final day of the Valdez Elks Invitational at Valdez High School.
Savanna James scored a game-high 17 points to lead Houston to its second win of the season. Amber Acton added six points for HHS.
Houston led 17-9 at halftime and survive the Nanooks’ 17-point third quarter effort.
The Hawks used a 10-7 fourth-quarter run to get the win
Hutchison scored a 40-32 win over the Hawks on Friday.
The Hawks opened tourney play with a 38-30 loss to host Valdez.
Acton and Paige Warner each scored eight points in the loss. Amber Madrid added six.
Warriors rally to win
FAIRBANKS — Despite trailing by a dozen at the half, Wasilla rallied to score a 42-3 win over the West Valley Wolfpack at West Valley High School on Friday.
Junior Kelsey Cottle led the Warriors with 15 points, providing all of her scoring in the second half.
Wasilla also scored a win over Lathrop on Saturday. Results were not available prior to press time.
Bears sweep Knights
JUNEAU — The Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears scored a two-game sweep of Colony at Juneau-Douglas High School over the weekend.
Juneau posted a 48-36 win over the Knights on Friday, and followed with a 39-25 victory on Saturday.

Hawks fly by Northway
VALDEZ — Max Rothley scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Houston Hawks to a 61-24 win over Northway during the third day of the Valdez Elks Invitational at Valdez High School on Saturday.
Houston led the 2A program 9-6 after the first eight minutes and broke away with a 26-point second quarter. The Hawks outscored Northway 15-2 in the third.
Zack Qual added 12 points in the win. Colton Buzby scored 12 and Mitch Montreuil chipped in 10.
On Friday, Kevin Rima’s buzzer-beater allowed Hutchison to edge Houston 38-36.
Qual scored a team-high 14 points.
Houston opened the tournament with a 60-49 loss to Barrow.
Qual scored 14 points, Tyler Barron added 12 and Scott Kramer chipped in nine.
Warriors win in Interior
FAIRBANKS — Wasilla posted a pair of nonconfernce wins during a two-game trip to Fairbanks over the weekend.
The Warriors scored a 77-43 win over West Valley on Friday. Sophomore Connor Devine led Wasiilla with 24 points. Junior Wade Stahle added 18.
On Saturday, senior Cody Pfeifer scored a game-high 27 to lead Lathrop to a 63-46 win over Lathrop. Devine added 10 in the victory.
