ANCHORAGE — A pair of Houston Hawks earned top-3 individual finishes during the final day of the Lime Solar Anchorage Christian School Invitational in Anchorage Saturday.
Aaron Drake finished as the runner-up in the 120-pound bracket. Drake, the third seed in the weight class, upset second-seeded Avery Chiklak of Bethel in the semifinals. Top-seeded Brettlyn Reich of Kotzebue pinned Drake at the 3:53 mark.
Drake recorded a pair of pins and two wins by decision en route to the finals.
Ryan Radmer, the top seed in the 152-pound class, posted a third-place finish in the tough bracket. Radmer beat Bethel’s Brandon Oulton 5-1 to take third.
Radmer opened his tournament with consecutive pins and a 2-1 win over Mt. Edgecumbe’s Jason Young, but suffered a 2-0 loss to Thorne Bay’s Luke Jenson in the semifinals.
Houston finished ninth in the 42-team tourney with 85 total points. The Hawks were without Luke Wagner, Houston’s two-time defending state champion, who was out with an injury.
Mitchell Pinard led Susitna Valley with a sixth-place finish in the heavyweight class.
