HOUSTON — Houston High School counselor Isaac Moll received a $1,000 grant from Gorilla Fireworks for ACT and SAT preparation software for students and instructional resources for teachers (study guides with lessons).
This grant, offered through the Mat-Su School Foundation, is dedicated to Houston-area educators. Preparing students for the transition from high school into post-secondary education opportunities is one of Houston High’s most pressing goals. Preparing for these standardized tests is crucial to many students as they consider options beyond high school. ACT and SAT scores influence acceptance into quality schools and scholarship opportunities.
The Gorilla Fireworks Grant will allow Houston High to purchase test preparation materials that have a self-guided portion as well as integrated classroom lessons and teacher/counselor resources. In addition to helping juniors and seniors, it is becoming increasingly common for freshman and sophomores to start taking high stake tests in hopes of improving their scores, increasing their competitiveness for scholarships and their rate of admission to colleges.
Mat-Su Schools Foundation supports Gorilla Fireworks during the grant process and encourages other business to contact them if they would like to award a teacher grant for the classroom or directly to graduating seniors this spring.
