Houston man dead after accident on Parks Highway

WASILLA — A Houston man is dead following an accident on the Parks Highway early Tuesday morning.

According to an Alaska State Troopers dispatch, Charles Roney, 63, was declared dead at the scene following an accident at Mile 52.5 of the Parks Highway. Troopers say, for “unknown reasons,” Roney’s Jeep Cherokee ran off the road and hit multiple mailboxes before striking trees along the road. The initial report was made just before 5 a.m.

Next of kin have been notified, and troopers are continuing to investigate the accident.
