Houston needs a strong mayor

Houston City Council chooses a mayor of the city rather than allow the electorate to do so. I was led to believe that the person who ran for Seat G was the one who held the mayor position.

Roger Purcell was voted into that seat by a landslide. It seems he was the people’s choice.

It may be time for Houston to set up the position of mayor to be voted by the people rather than the council itself. One opinion from the council was that it did not need a strong person to hold that position. Any organization needs a strong leader to do the things the electorate wants done.
