Houston senior continues winning streak at Su Valley Invite

TALKEETNA — A day after posting three individual wins during the Palmer Invitational at Palmer High, Houston senior Colton Buzby was at the top of the podium in Talkeetna.

Buzby won a pair of events and finished in a three-way tie for another during the Susitna Valley Invitational at Susitna Valley High School in Talkeenta Saturday.

Buzby finished first in the 100- and 200-meter events, and finished in a three-way tie for first in the high jump. The Houston senior won the 100, 200 and 400 at the Palmer Invite Friday.

Claire Gillespie also won three events for the Houston girls. The Houston sophomore was first in the 200, long jump and triple jump. Gillespie was also second in the 100.

Dustin Griffith (400), Ben Bayne (hurdles) and Tim Davis (shot put) also won events for the Houston boys.

Freshman Bailey Murr was first in the 300 hurdles for the Houston girls.

Sophomore Ayla Loper won three events to lead host Susitna Valley. Loper finished first in the girls 400, 800 and high jump.

Stone Kruger led the Su Valley boys with wins in the long jump and triple jump.

Emily Hartley won the girls’ discus for Su Valley.

Miles Knotek led Seward with victories in the boys’ 800, 1,600 and 3,200.
