Houston splits with Redington, Nikiski

The Redington girls picked up their second Southcentral Conference win in three games with a 45-37 victory over Houston Tuesday night at Houston High School.

Mariam Aperzuk hit four three-pointers and led the Huskies with a game-high 16 points. Abbie Fuller added 13, and Destiny Simmons added nine.

Denali Whitted led Houston with a dozen.

Kyle McLaughlin scored 18 points to lead the Houston boys to a 71-55 win over Redington. Cameron Wyrick added 15 points. Owen Mulhaney scored nine.

Wayde Bowman led Redington with a game-high 20.

Houston boys win in OT

The Houston boys were able to notch a 45-43 victory over Nikiski in overtime Thursday in Nikiski. The Bulldogs outscored the Hawks 9-4 in the fourth quarter to force the extra frame, but Houston won extra time 3-1.

Francis Mose had 10 points for the Hawks, while Michael Eiter had 17 for the Bulldogs.

The Nikiski girls opened with a 59-13 victory over Houston. Nikiski led 33-2 after the first quarter.

Bethany Carstens led the Bulldogs with 24 points.
