The last time the Houston Hawks faced the Kenai Kardinals in a boys basketball game, the Kards were able to edge the Hawks earlier this season. But the second round of the battle was much different as a Houston standout enjoyed a monster night.
Hayden Howard scored 44 points to lead the Hawks to a 90-57 win over the Kardinals at Houston High.
Howard finished 18 of 30 from the field and hit a trio of three-pointers. He added three assists and five steals. Keldin Nicoll finished with 14 points and Cole Taylor chipped in 13 points and six assists.
The Houston boys also beat Seward 52-41 over the weekend. Howard led the team with 19 points. Taylor added 13.
In girls action, Seward got past Houston 48-39. Abbie Baird scored 10 for the Hawks.
