HOUSTON — Sam Fonov notched a hat trick to lead the Houston Hawks to a 3-2 win over Copper River Saturday morning at the Big Lake Recreation Center.
In addition to the three Fonov goals, Houston needed to stop a late Copper River rally to complete the two-game sweep of its Greatland Conference opponent. Copper River, a team that features players from both Glennallen and Kenny Lake, scored a pair of power play goals during the final two periods. Brian Grams scored with the advantage late in the second to cut Houston’s lead to 3-1. Grams added a second power play goal midway through the third.
Hayden Chivers supplied two assists for Houston.
Reed Humphreys scored twice Friday to lead Houston to a 4-1 win over Copper River. Andrew Natekin and Austin Zweifel also scored for the Hawks.
