How goes our faith

I recently returned from a year-end renewal. Since Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman was involved, I phoned to thank them, and let them know I had completed my trip. I was invited to share my story.

I backed my car out of the garage, drove down the driveway and started down the road. My prayerful question: “Lord, should I call Alaska Airlines as family and friends suggest?” My co-worker of sixty years had been gone nearly a year, and I still felt sad! My sadness became overwhelming. I had lost weight, and strength as well. “Grieving” they call it. Flo and I spent our years helping others. We as women of faith were not suppose to lose strength! We believed the Word of God, and trusted the Savior. He cared for us so well! When Flo’s illness showed up over ten years ago, the Lord enabled us. Only the last couple of years did I seek caregivers to help a few hours a day. It was those two to four hours a day I spent writing. I finally published “This Side of the Past” Volume I and II. I was sad I couldn’t read this series to Flo. I had promised the books were for all the people who had supported and prayed for us through the years. They were for the Alaskan native people, for the pilots; for urban and village people whom we thought so much of. I was asking the Lord to bless their loved ones with faith and courage to live for Him. God would bless them as He had us!

We knew Flo didn’t need the books. She was now comforted in God’s Presence, without pain and free from sorrow! I still hurt for all she had gone through. Would there be an available seat? The plane to Portland would likely be full. Please lead me, Lord!

As I returned from church, there was a phone call awaiting me. It was from the Frontiersman! They probably want me to up my subscription. I had cancelled Flo’s, and renewed a three-day subscription for myself. The conversation went like this: “Doris Hagedorn”? “Yes” “You have just won Alaska Airlines Mileage Award Sweepstakes for 25,000 miles”! I sat down thinking “Lord, You know I don’t do sweepstakes — (shock)!” How many people are in the valley?? Are you sure this information is correct?? Guess what! I accepted with peace, knowing the Lord used Alaska Airlines and the Frontiersman to give me the needed go-ahead nudge! And He used my neighbors, who offered to care for Gomer and Kiwi, my Cockatiel Birds, til my return!

“Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21 NKJ)

How goes our faith? “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5,6)
