How to help

The borough is accepting donations at the shelter on 49th State Street next to the landfill.

• Supplies needed: dry straw, tarps, zip ties, corrugated metal, dog houses, crates, blankets, towels, metal dog bowls.

• Anchorage residents with donations can bring them to the Anchorage Animal Care Facility.

• Adopting a dog would help make room, and prices have been slashed to $79 for dogs who haven’t been spayed or neutered and $17 for dogs that have.

• Donations to the Mat-Su Shelter Advocate Fund, account No. 9373598334, can be made at any Wells Fargo bank branch.
