To the editor:
This letter is an attempt to acknowledge and thank the multitude of people who gave sympathy, support, flowers, food, memorial donations, prayers, cards, calls and a helping hand to me and my family when my husband, Maurice Johnson, died suddenly July 7.
When someone dies unexpectedly it is a shock to the family, friends and community. Such was the case for us. It was humbling to have so many people help us through this situation with grace. I want to thank the doctors who gave medical care to Maurice at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center and the compassionate, professional staff at Valley Funeral Home and Crematory on Herning Street in Wasilla.
There was such an outpouring of love from Morry’s MTA co-workers that it would be impossible to thank each one individually. I was especially appreciative of the MTA repairman who came to fix the phone line I snapped in my front yard several days after Morry died. Someone put my repair request on the fast track that day and I am very grateful.
My family and I were well taken care of by so many people, I want them to know we appreciate the support and effort they put forth to make the transition to a new reality easier for us. Living in a small town is a great gift, but never more so than when tragedy strikes.
Thank you all so much.
