Hurley to celebrate 90th birthday Sunday

Alaskans are invited to celebrate Katie Hurley’s 90th birthday from 2 to 6 p.m., March 27 at the Palmer Depot, 610 South Valley Way. The fun includes cake, candles and many happy wishes. Cards and contributions can be sent c/o Mat-Su Democrats, P.O. Box 3365, Palmer, AK 99645.

Hurley holds an important place in Alaska history for her role as chief clerk during the Alaska Constitutional Convention during the winter of 1955-56 on the campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She is among the last survivors of those who were part of the Constitutional Convention.
