The Redington Huskies finished as the runner-up in the team standings during the 2022 Top Dog wrestling tournament at Nikiski High School.
Redington placed seven grapplers in the top four, and finished with 288.5 total points. Service won the team title with 309 points.
Myles Campbell won the 130-pound bracket to lead the Huskies. Caleb Metcalf (112 pounds) and Hayden Kearney (125) also reached the finals and placed second. Dameon Tugmon-Grube (145) and Wyatt Milnes (171) were third, and Aidan LaSelle (135) and Thomas Swalling (152) finished fourth.
Wasilla’s Achilles Alexander also won his weight class, finishing first at 112. Brandt Steiner (140) and Liam Brown (215) were both fourth for the Warriors. Wasilla was third in the team standings.
Langill Dutch was second at 189 to lead the Moose. Ezra Ginn was fourth for Palmer.
The Colony Knights finished third during the Monster Bash Duals wrestling tournament Saturday at South Anchorage High School.
The Knights finished 3-2 during the duals. Colony beat Palmer 42-31, Wasilla 64-18 and West Anchorage 78-3. The Knights fell to South Anchorage and Soldotna.
Palmer was 3-3. The Moose beat Wasilla 36-30, West 50-12 and Chugiak 53-18, but suffered losses to Colony, Soldotna and South.
Wasilla was 2-4 and placed fifth. Wasilla beat West (51-12) and Chugiak (41-33), and fell to Soldotna, Colony, South and Palmer.
