The Redington Huskies used a fast start to score a girls basketball victory over rival Houston. Redington scored 21 first-quarter points during a 59-42 win over the Hawks Tuesday at Houston High.
Lexi Seymore finished with a game-high 29 points, shooting 10 of 20 from the field. Seymore added eight rebounds, five assists and five steals. Alizae Crume finished with 16 points, and Destiny Simmons chipped in 11 for the Huskies.
Emily Bitler led Houston with a double-double, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Abbie Baird scored 10 for the Hawks.
Redington scored 40 of its 58 points in the first and third quarters.
The Houston boys forced the varsity series split with a 56-42 win in the nightcap.
The Hawks outscored Redington 31-17 in the second half. The game was tied at 25 at the break.
Hunter Jefferson scored a game-high 19 for the Hawks. Hayden Howard added a dozen.
Logan Seymore led Redington with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Bryce Murdock scored 10 points for the Huskies.
