WASILLA — For the last two seasons, Redington coaches have said Eli Benson and Rhiley Spott are among the most versatile players on the Huskies football team.
Their representation on the All-Aurora Conference list shows that.
Benson earned first-team honors at long snapper, and was named to the second team at both offensive tackle and outside linebacker. Spott was named first-team All-Aurora at punter. He was also an honorable mention at offensive tackle, inside linebacker and kicker.
Benson and spot were among three Redington special teams players to be named first-team all-conference, alongside return specialist Jahzeah Williams. Williams was also named second-team All-Aurora at wide receiver. Isaac Carlson-Hamo was named to the second team at both guard and defensive line. Williams earned second-team honors at wide receiver. Wide receiver Wayde Boahman and defensive back Taylor Ingraham were also named to the second team.
Kyler Rumfelt was named an honorable mention at both quarterback and linebacker. Porter Jones (utility player), Asher Page (defensive line), Bowman (defensive back), Trenton Reagan (guard) and Riley Jacko (tackle) were also an honorable mention.
Aurora Conference and Division III state champion Eielson swept the major awards. Dave DeVaughn and Don Fry earned head coach and assistant coach of the year honors. Jayden Manibusan is the offensive player of the year, Ryan Armour is the top defensive player and Scott Fry was named the lineman of the year.
