Ignore Outside election ads

To the editor:

As we all know, there have been many “he did, they did,” etc. ads in newspapers and on our daily television promoting all parties in the coming senatorial race. I’m not here to promote one party or the other. What I do propose is that the residents of the state of Alaska stop being influenced by Outsiders and find out for themselves who said what, and who did or didn’t do “whatever.” Sitting back and believing what is being dished out isn’t in the best interests of any of us.

Like you, I’m so tired of hearing about the billionaire Koch brothers dumping millions of dollars into the election facing all of our Alaska citizens. Likewise, I’m tired of hearing that the other side is doing the same thing. Whichever is true (or not true) is not up for discussion here. What is up for discussion is “why are we Alaskans putting up with the false and misleading tactics regarding our senatorial race?” What’s in it for the contributors? They must have an agenda — is their agenda in the best of interests of Alaska residents? Or is it in the best interests of them and/or their Outside organizations?

I ask all of the citizens of Alaska to not necessarily believe everything you see on TV or newspaper ads. We need to be intelligent enough voters to see when Outsiders are trying to sell us snake oil. When this much Outside money comes into Alaska they have their reasons to lie to us.

The Koch brothers know they need a candidate who will do their bidding in Washington. That’s why they’re pushing for their candidate who’s barely lived in Alaska, Dan Sullivan. Dan’s their man. They can have him.
