In favor of ‘thoughtful dialogue’ with parties

To the editor:

Recently, my husband and I had the privilege of volunteering at the Mat-Su Democrats booth at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer. While taking a break for “fair food,” we happened to walk past the Republican Women’s booth.

We were surprised, but not shocked, to see a wall of bumper stickers prominently displayed, the majority of which were full of vitriol toward liberals and especially President Obama. At our Democrats booth, we had no such hateful signs toward our counterparts, but a marker board asking folks if they needed information about pending bills in the Legislature.

We had an enjoyable experience interacting with the public and I’m proud to be part of an organization working to better the community through thoughtful dialogue rather than stirring the pot with negative discourse. Thank you Democrats for your positive approach.
