To the editor:
I am writing this in response to the letter that Mike Coons wrote about Warren Keogh.
First, let us look at the politics that Coons represents.
1. He is very active within the Tea Party in Alaska
2. He has, and continues to back people who take pledges to what the Tea Party stands for.
3. His claim to fame was spending copious amounts of money to try and defame Lisa Murkowski in her primary run against Joe Miller.
I have found Keogh to be a man of moderation, willing to work with other people to find common ground.
The Tea Party does not endorse moderation. For them it is their way or you are not an American.
Keogh is dedicated to the concept that public education is essential to the well being of all of our children, and grandchildren.
Coons, and Senator Mike Dunleavy feel that public education funds should be available for use by private, and religious education groups.
Keogh sees the wisdom of bringing our state budget in line with the reality of what we can spend.
Coons backs a member of a coalition that spent $2 billion over what the state brought in last year. Fiscal conservative? I think not.
The state of Alaska is at a crossroads right now. We are poised to elect a true team of Alaskans who care deeply about this State and its future.
Dunleavy doesn’t fit that description. Nor do many of his colleagues that are up for re-election.
Warren Keogh does.
Do you want your voice heard in Juneau?
Do you want the possibility of a better public education for your family members?
Do you want health care made available to all by working with the governor and the federal government?
Do you want sound development, with the assurance that your voice will be heard?
Then vote for Keogh.
If you want four more years of your voice not being heard, and a government that is hell bent on breaking the state budget, then elect the same old mules that have ran us into the ground.
