I am a Palmer resident writing in support of a smoke-free Palmer.
That haze you breathe in some bars and restaurants has more than 4,000 chemicals in it, 69 of which are known to cause cancer — including arsenic, ammonia and formaldehyde. Since I don’t want any of those 4,000 things in my lungs I have simply avoided bars and restaurants that allow smoking.
And I’m not the only one.
Many of us would love to have smoke-free places to gather and to celebrate together.
A smoke-free bar is healthier for its employees, musicians and patrons. Let’s support our local businesses, encourage them to go smoke-free and more people will be able to invest in the health and economy of our town.
