Incident management team makes good progress on the Montana Creek Fire.

The Montana Creek Fire (#312), located 16 miles south of Talkeetna, is now 97% contained. As fire managers meet objectives and scale down the fire operations based on work completed, the Type 3 Incident Command Team from Wyoming transferred command of the fire on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

The Alaska Division of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Gannett Glacier Fire Crew will take over command, focusing on final containment by ensuring the perimeter of the fire is secure.
