MAT-SU — The Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers have increased their visibility and enforcement from Dec. 10 until Jan. 4, 2015.
The effort is aimed at ensuring the safety of Alaskans while they participate in holiday celebrations.
Between Dec. 10 and Dec. 23,
troopers:
• Arrested 37 drivers for driving under the influence, with two of those arrests for felony offenses.
• Charged 42 drivers with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
• Received 248 REDDI reports. Of those, 26 drivers who were contacted were ultimately determined not to be driving under the influence.
• Investigated 83 damage only crashes, 14 injury crashes and no fatal collisions.
• Of the 874 citations troopers issued, 346 were for speeding and 37 were for seat belt or other occupant restraint violations.
Drivers are encouraged to help keep Alaska’s roadways safe by reporting dangerous drivers by calling 911.
