PALMER — Incumbents ruled the MEA Board of Directors election.
Peter Burchell, Kit Jones and Janet Kincaid earned the three at-large seats, according to MEA Director of External Affairs Julie Estey. The results were announced Thursday, two days after MEA’s annual membership hosted Tuesday at the Menard Center in Wasilla.
Burchell led a group of four candidates with 3,610 votes. Jones received 3,233 votes, and Kincaid garnered 2,985 votes. The fourth candidate, Kerry Williams, finished with 2,581 votes.
Burchell has spent 13 years as a part of the MEA Board of Directors. An Alaska resident since 1983, Burchell has also served as a director on boards at the Wasilla Senior Center, Mat-Su Recovery Center, Alaska Family Services and United Way.
Jones has served on the MEA board since 2008. She has also been a volunteer with Valley Community Recycling, NRCS Earth Team and the Pioneer Veterans Home.
Kincaid, a Palmer resident since 1962, is a longtime local business owner and volunteer.
