Interpretive workshops planned for new Gateway Visitor Center

PALMER — Mat-Su Convention and Visitors Bureau has organized a series of planning workshops scheduled for this month to gather public input on plans for the new Mat-Su Valley Gateway Visitor Center.

Wolf Architecture is leading the design team and has scheduled three different opportunities to share feedback and stories during this early phase of the design.

“We encourage the public to come to these events and share their stories that may be incorporated into the visitor experience during the design phase. Many themes will be identified and discussed in this exercise,” said Mat-Su CVB executive director Bonnie Quill.

The first meeting is a planned session from 1 to 4:45 p.m., Jan. 21 at Government Peak Chalet.

Later the same day an open house event is planned from 5:30 to 7:30 at Turkey Red in Palmer. The last meeting in the trio is at noon, Jan. 23 at Evangelo’s Restaurant in Wasilla where Wolf Architecture will present information about the design process and summary of the workshop themes as part of MSCVB’s monthly luncheon.
