To the editor:
I am honored to introduce a new rescue group to the Valley area. Alaska Animal Advocates has been in the business of rescuing homeless dogs for about two months. In that time, we have found homes for 19 pups and one adult. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and de-wormed before they are adopted out. In addition, Alaska Animal Advocates does visits to each home of potential adopters and foster homes. This assures that a good match between dog and human is made and that our dogs are placed in a safe and loving environment.
Our hopes for the future include creating a food bank to support families who have fallen upon hard times and need help feeding their pets. At some point, we plan on creating a medical support system that allows Alaska Animal Advocates to help families with the financial burden of caring for their ill pets through a no-interest loan program. We also hope to expand our rescue efforts to other animals, such as cats, rabbits, birds and more.
As you can see, our dreams are big ones, but these goals are reachable. However, we need the help of the community to support our efforts on behalf of the homeless animals throughout Alaska. We rely on you to help meet these goals and make our dreams come true. Alaska Animal Advocates cannot continue to rescue dogs unless we have foster homes available to place them, particularly adult dogs. Alaska Animal Advocates promises to rescue as many dogs as we can find foster homes for. We also need wire crates, wire pens, dog food, leashes and collars, blankets and toys.
Another guarantee that Alaska Animal Advocates can make to you is that all of the money we earn through adoption fees or donations goes directly to the dogs in our care. We do not have any employees or buildings that will consume funds that the public has intended to be used for dogs.
Check out our website and Facebook for information about upcoming adoption clinics and locations. Thank you for your support and generosity.
