Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident Irene (Cecchi) Stultz, 69, died Oct. 10, 2001, at the Sitka Pioneers' Home.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Parish in Palmer, with Father Leo Desso officiating.
Mrs. Stultz was born June 24, 1932, in Fort Bragg, Calif. She attended high school in Mendocino, Calif. She became an Alaska resident in 1962, residing in Anchorage from 1962 to 1991, and in Palmer since 1991.
She had been employed by Don's Green Apple (restaurant) in Anchorage, and at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage.
She was a member of the Catholic church. She had worked with Gov. Egan during his election process.
Her hobbies and special interests were cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening, music and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her father, Riccardo Cecchi; mother, Dora (Vesco) Cecchi; and sister, Lena Cecchi.
Surviving is her husband, Edwin Stultz of Palmer; brother, Peter Cecchi of Lancaster, Calif; son and daughter-in-law, David and Marilyn Owens of Palmer; stepdaughter and her husband, Maxine and Jim Burns of Texas; grandchildren, Linsey, Richard, Vanessa, Camilla and Ashleigh Owens, Dan, Kyna and Samantha DeBoer, all of Palmer, David Elkins and his wife, Lea, of Texas, Michael Poss of Texas; and great-grandchildren, Anthony and Alexis of Texas.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory.
