Iron Dog 2000 still has room for more teams

MAT-SU - The 18th annual Tesoro Iron Dog 2001 still has room for 38 drivers in the Pro and Trail Class team races. So far, Polaris has 11 teams signed up for the world's longest snowmachine race, followed by Yamaha with seven, and four each from Ski-Doo and Arctic Cat teams.

The race starts in Wasilla on Feb. 18, 2001, and continues to Nome and then on to Fairbanks where the approximately 2,000-mile race will end.

Current race champions Todd Palin and Dusty Van Meter have signed up to defend their title. There is a 600cc limit for Pro Class racers, with a fee of $1,730. To race in the noncompetitive Trail Class category, the fee is $1,100.

The deadline to register is Nov. 30.
