Iron Dog 2023 kicks off Friday

WASILLA — The 2023 Iron Dog Pro Class racers are set to embark on a long and arduous journey from Big Lake to Nome Friday, Feb. 17.

Pro Class Racers will depart from the Susitna Brewing Company at 10 a.m.

A total of 25 teams are participating in this year's race, according to the official Iron Dog website.

Seasoned racers and rookies from across the state are ready to put their skills and determination to the ultimate test in snowmachine racing.

This year's race is over 2,500 miles long with multiple stops along the way.

The Expedition Class racers took off Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. This smaller course is designed for casual participants and new racers looking to gain experience for the more competitive Pro Class division.
