Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

For a moment, as I stood in the press box at Colony High School last Friday watching the Knights play the Wasilla Warriors, I began to wonder.
What is the biggest high school football rivalry in the Mat-Su Valley right now?
The Colony-Wasilla games seem to be as spirited as ever.
The Colony-Palmer series have produced some of the best games seen in the Valley in the last decade.
And, of course, the Potato Bowl is the granddaddy of them all.
But is the Potato Bowl still the best? Is it the game Valley fans circle on their calendar first?
I still think so.
But as successfully as Colony has been, as of late, I still think I may be kickin’ it old school when it comes to the love of Alaska’s oldest prep gridiron rivalry. It’s hard to beat the tradition of the Potato Bowl.
But what do you think?
