Age 65, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 11, 2018, at her home near Palmer/Wasilla, Alaska. Jan was born in Madison, Wisconsin, to the late Harlan D. and Shirley P. Crinion, and grew up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Jan was a graduate of Eau Claire Memorial High School, Class of 1970. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Upon graduation, she joined Mobil Oil Corporation as an accountant, working in many locations in North America, routinely climbing hundreds of feet to the top of storage tanks to perform her audits. Jan made friends wherever she went on her various work postings, including South Dakota, California, Oregon and Alaska, where she finally settled and made her home.
Jan was a sports enthusiast, actively participating in softball, speed skating, broomball and skiing in her elementary and secondary school days. She enjoyed cold Alaska winters and snowmobiling with friends. An avid Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers fan, she became a proud Green Bay Packers stockholder in 2011. She was a kind-hearted animal-lover, providing food and shelter to stray and abandoned pets. A generous aunt, she loved to shop for gifts for her nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephew living far away.
She was preceded in death by her brother, David, in 1958. She is survived by her sisters, Jackie and Jo Ellen Crinion, in Wisconsin, her brother, Greg, in Texas, and aunts, an uncle, and cousins in Illinois, Massachusetts, Singapore, and Norway. She leaves behind many long-time and childhood friends. We love and miss you, Jan.
