Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Jarrod Michael Walling, 6, of Wasilla, died Aug. 23, 2002, in Wasilla. He was born March 5, 1996, at Valley Hospital in Palmer.
Jarrod was a very loving and energetic boy. He won the most affectionate award last year at Cottonwood Creek Mall. He loved being outdoors and being with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his huge smile, hardy laugh and big hugs. Jarrod was a big fan of Bob the Builder and believed with help that anything could be built.
His family said, "He loved being praised for helping around home and making family members proud of him. He was very special to the entire family and will be missed dearly here, but received warmly in Heaven."
He is survived by his father, Marvin Clayton; step-mother, Amanda Clayton; grandparents and adopted parents Steve and Shery Walling; sisters, Mercedes Walling, Faith Clayton; brother Tim Clayton; uncles, Jerome Carnes and Shane Walling, Ben Carny and aunts Summer Carnes and Tiffany Walling, all of Wasilla; great grandparents Loyd and Shirley Clayton of Eagle River and Walter Walling of Peters Creek.
Services will be held Friday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. at Gospel Outreach in Wasilla. Following services there will be a potluck Celebration of Life ceremony at Mick and Nan Hendrickson's.
