Wasilla resident Mrs. Jean B. Bruno, 63, died of cancer July 21, 2003, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Her ashes will be scattered along the California coast.

Mrs. Bruno was born Nov. 17, 1939, in Ukiah, Calif. She graduated high school in California.

Mrs. Bruno came to Alaska with her husband in April 1967. They lived in Anchorage for five years, then moved to Wasilla where she lived until her death.

Mrs. Bruno had been a checker at various grocery stores in Anchorage during her working career.

She was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Wasilla.

Her family said, "She enjoyed knitting, canning and cooking. She had a green thumb. When correcting children, she made them cut their own switch. Sometimes it took three or four times before they got the right size!"

Mrs. Bruno is survived by her husband of 32 years, Felix Bruno of Wasilla; son Ben of California, step-son Felix Bruno of Wasilla; and sisters Catherine, Mary and Billie of California.

Arrangements were made by with Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
