Wasilla resident Jerry Holland, 61, died of heart failure at Elmendorf Air Force Base Hospital, Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003.

A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held at Ft. Richardson National Cemetery on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. Rev. Paul Carter will officiate.

Mr. Holland was born April 11, 1941, in Longmont, Colo.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968.

He moved to Alaska in 1985, living in Anchorage until 1988, then moving to Wasilla.

He worked as a radiator repairman until 1987 when he retired due to injury.

Mr. Holland was a member of the Bible Missionary Church in Anchorage. He was active in the Amvets, VFW and the American Legion.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, collecting and watching eagles, spending time in his "Eagle Room," and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Holland's family said, "He will be greatly missed by family and friends."

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Holland of Wasilla; his son Daniel Holland of California; daughters Beth Amberg of Wasilla, Shelly Maddux of Wasilla and Elaine Sheffrey of Stewartville, Minn.; five grandchildren; his sister Lois Kips of Denver, Colo.; brothers Ronald Holland of Greenville, Texas, Wesley Holland of Federal Heights, Colo., Lowell Holland of Denver, Colo., and by Ralph Holland of Minnesota.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Matanuska Federal Credit Union account # 69183.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.
