Sutton resident Jesse Van Bannon, 46, died Dec. 22, 2003, at his sister's home in Sutton surrounded by family. Memorial services will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Sutton Baptist Fellowship, Mile 61 Glenn Highway. Pastor Troy Jones will officiate. A potluck will follow the service at the church.

Mr. Bannon was born Nov. 6, 1957, in Palmer.

He spent most of his life farming in Sutton and Delta Junction. He also worked as a heavy-duty mechanic throughout Alaska.

His family said, "When he was 11 years old he rebuilt his first engine, a Volkswagen bus. He adored his children and his eyes would light up when his grandchildren would enter the room."

His parents, Al and Mary Bannon; his brother, Henry Bannon and his sister, Linda Bannon, preceded Mr. Bannon in death.

He is survived by his companion, Brandy; his children, Sam and his companion Michelle, Dusty and his wife Kristen, Jessica, Jesse and Joleen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Kenny Muhlbauer, Patti and Glenn Prince, Bertie and Kenny Seipel; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wes and Beth Bannon, Endo and Bonnie Bannon; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
