Jesus "Jesse" Meno Manglona, 53, died at his home in Wasilla on Dec. 14, 2004.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wasilla, with Father Kaspar officiating. Pallbearers will be Jesse Manglona Jr., John Quichocho, Carl Cornforth, Jonathan Manglona, Jarrod Manglona, Daniel Mesa, Eric James and Breau Horine.

A military honors ceremony will follow at Fort Richardson at 2 p.m. Flowers are welcome and greatly appreciated.

Mr. Manglona was born Nov. 26, 1951, in Guam, where he graduated from George Washington High School. On May 26, 1969 he joined the Army, in which he served for 21 years.

While in the military, Mr. Manglona attended two years of college and earned numerous commendations, including five good conduct medals, an Army Achievement medal, a Notorious Driver's badge, two overseas medals, Army service ribbon, expert grenade and National Defense Service medals and a Vietnam Service medal.

On Jan. 31, 1989, he retired as an E-8 from Fort Bliss, Texas. Upon retirement, he began working for Ol/ Chevrolet in El Paso, Texas, where he worked until moving to Wasilla in October 1993.

He then worked for Tony Chevrolet in Wasilla and Anchorage until May 2004 and was working at Alaska Sales & Service from May until his death.

He enjoyed playing darts, golfing, fishing and hanging out with his friends. He regularly attended services with his family at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

His family wrote, "He was a very dedicated husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He was an honest friend to a lot of people. He helped a lot of people when needed and was there for everyone. He was a well-known and respected man and he touched a lot of people's lives. He is loved and will be dearly missed."

His mother and father, Ursula Meno and Adriano Mendiola Manglona, and two sisters, Anna Guzman and Carmen Pablo, preceded him in death.

Mr. Manglona is survived by his ex-wife, Debbie Manglona; children, Norma and her husband, John Quichocho, Ursula and her husband, Gerald Palomo, Leanna Manglona and her husband, Carl Cornforth, Anna Quichocho and Jesse Manglona Jr.; grandchildren, Jonathan, Jarrod, Deanalyn, C.J., Kaeleen, Jaeleen, Nicole and Baby "Cashew"; brothers, Vicente Chargualaf, Joseph Manglona and Johnny Manglona; sisters, Sue Bombarro, Julie Stickley, Lisa Ingerick, Tita Freeman and Lolling Castro and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
