Mr. John "Butch" H. Dillon Jr., 53, died July 8, 2004, at his home in Wasilla.

Visitation was held Sunday at Valley Baptist Memorial Tabernacle from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., with funeral services following. Pastor Lyn Wyckoff officiated.

Mr. Dillon was born Sept. 14, 1950, in Roanoke, Va. He married Cissy L. Goad on March 28, 1969. He served in the U.S. Air Force from April 1972 until May 1992, retiring after 20 years. Upon retirement from the military, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Palmer. He settled in Wasilla and belonged to Valley Baptist Tabernacle, where he served as a deacon and also played trumpet for the church.

His family said, "Butch's generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to his family and friends. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He lived his life full of zest, he always enjoyed telling a good joke and was seen with a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed."

Mr. Dillon is survived by his wife, Cissy L. Dillon; daughters, Tammie Dillon Goetsch and Johnna Fay Ingersoll; father, John H. Dillon, and grandchildren, Jordan, Kali and Wesley Goetsch, and Dillon and Dayton Ingersoll.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in his honor be sent to Cissy Dillon, HC03 Box 8011, Palmer, AK 99645.

Interment will be in Mt. Union Cemetery, Troutville, Va.

Arrangements were handled by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
