Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Mat-Su resident John F. Keefe, 70, died Jan. 10, 2003, at Providence Hospital from complications of lung cancer.
A memorial service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Saturday, Jan. 18 at noon. Deacon Ken Donohue will officiate. An Irish wake will follow at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, at 11800 Mary Ave. in Anchorage.
Mr. Keefe was born in Boston, Mass. where he lived until joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1954. He came to Alaska in 1957 with Federal Electric to work on the White Alice System. His career was spent in the telecommunications industry throughout Alaska.
His family said, "His happiest days were spent with family and friends at Prator Lake where he loved to entertain. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather."
He is survived by his wife, Caryle; daughters and sons-in-law Jacqueline and Dick Colosso, and Maureen and Karsten Rodvik; and sons and daughters-in-laws Mike and Gail Keefe and Tom and Cina Keefe; eight grandchildren; two brothers and
sisters-in-laws; nieces; nephews; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara.
Arrangements were made by Evergreen Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alaska Lung Association.
