Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

John Francis Gablick Jr., 61, died Feb. 9, 2006, at his home in Wasilla. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the Valley Funeral Home Chapel, 151 E. Herning Ave., Wasilla. Burial will follow at Wasilla's Aurora Cemetery.
Mr. Gablick was born Dec. 18, 1944. in Anchorage. He obtained his general equivalency diploma as an adult, and then completed computer school.
Mr. Gablick was raised in Anchorage, and moved to Wasilla as an adult. He was employed at Fort Richardson as a computer technician. Mr. Gablick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking.
His family said about him, “John was a very caring and humble person.”
Mr. Gablick is survived by his mother, Anna Lamig of Anchorage; three sons, John Gablick III of Anchorage, Lonnie Gablick and Sean Gablick; one daughter, Donna Gablick; three granddaughters, Lauren, Samantha, and Madison; one grandson, Dylan, and three stepgrandchildren.
He also has many relatives at Unalakleet.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Gablick Sr.; stepfather, Flurentine Lamug; grandparents, Mary and Frank Koutchak, and by four uncles, Edward, Eric, Emmanual and Frank Koutchak.
Arrangements for Mr. Gablick were handled by Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.
