Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Mr. John James Sullivan, 20, died on Aug. 24, 2002, in Wasilla. He was born in Fresno, Calif. on April 6, 1982, and moved to Palmer in 1991. He graduated from Colony High School in 2000 and most recently was attending University of Alaska Anchorage and worked at United Rentals in Wasilla. During his senior year he played football.
Mr. Sullivan loved weightlifting, hockey, in-line skating, golfing, swimming, hiking and reading. He loved children, especially all of his nieces and nephews. He was also involved in the Christian Children's Fund, helping those children who were less fortunate.
His family said, "John will always be remembered for making people laugh, his easy going personality and his smile."
He is survived by his mother Gloria Whitney; father James Alden Sullivan; brothers David Bowman and Todd Brown; sisters Anita Moon, Deona Hosmer and Linda Horecka; great-uncle Donald Whitney; the love of his life Kristen Escamilla; and many friends.
Arrangements were made by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
