Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

John Jeffery Overholt, 52, of Palmer, Alaska, peacefully passed away on November 20th, 20023 at his home. John was born August 25th, 1971, in Doylestown, PA, to William (Bill) Overholt (deceased) and Janet Elain (Towler) Overholt. John served 22 years in the United States Coast Guard, Retiring with the Rank of Petty Officer First Class. He was a highly decorated service member, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Numerous Gold stars, marksmanship, sharpshooters’ awards in rifle and pistol, and Presidential commendation letters. John graduated from New Hope-Solebury High School class of 1990. Before joining the United States Coast Guard, he attended Widener University and Bucks County Community College.
John’s pride and joy was spending time with his sons. He was an avid ice hockey fan and enjoyed playing floor hockey. In his retirement, John volunteered at the VFW Post 9365 in Wasilla, AK, and spent time working on his home in Palmer. John is survived by his two young sons, Tristan J and Konrad J, and his former wife, Tania L Overholt of Homer, Alaska. He is also survived by his Mother, Janet, and Brother, Wm Christopher of Solebury, PA, and a large extended family in Pennsylvania.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 7th, 2024, at the VFW Post 9365, 301 E Lake View Ave., Wasilla, AK 99654. The Interment will be at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newton, PA 18940, on March 11th, 2024, at 10:45 a.m.
