Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident John Kenneth Bracker, 58, died on Jan. 25, 2003.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at Kehl's Mortuary, 209 S. Alaska Way in Palmer, on Friday, Jan. 31. A gathering for family and friends will be held at the Moose Lodge in Palmer immediately following the service.
Mr. Bracker was born Oct. 17, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, where he graduated from Assumption High School.
He moved to Alaska in June of 1962. He was drafted into the Army and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1967.
He was an IBEW electrician for 39 years, and worked for Redi Electric in Anchorage for the last 10 years. He worked for various union companies throughout Alaska.
He loved his family and grandchildren. He was an avid bowler, and had two PBA certified 300 games. He also enjoyed fishing, golf and his family.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Harold and Louise Bracker.
He is survived by his wife Sue; sisters and brothers-in-law Pat Scott of Davenport, Iowa, Donna and Ed Church of Copper Center, Karen and Rodney Bowling of Nederland, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law Chuck of Sonoma, Calif., Dick and Rose of Davenport, Iowa, Ollie of Farmersburg, Ind.; daughters and son-in-law Nancy and Sherman Leifer of Palmer, Teresa Bracker of Anchorage; sons and daughter-in-law Jim and Kim of Kotzebue, Charlie and TJ of Palmer; grandchildren Bryce, Mikala, Matthew and Livia Bracker of Kotzebue; and many nieces and nephews.
