Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Lifelong Palmer resident John Wayne France died Oct. 21, 2001 in Palmer. He was 47 years old.
Mr. France was born in Palmer on Dec. 10, 1953. He was a 1971 graduate of Palmer High School and was employed with Houston-NANA contractors as a parts foreman at Pump Station 3.
Mr. France was a member of the Loyal Order of The Moose, Lodge 793 in Palmer. His hobbies included fishing, reading and music. He was an avid baseball fan and he enjoyed visiting with close family and friends.
Mr. France is survived by his son, Tomas Adam France of Anchorage; daughter, Lauren Jean France of Anchorage; mother, Lyla Cornelius of Palmer; stepfather, Frank Cornelius of Palmer; brother, Ernest Grant France of Palmer; sister, Laura Louise France of Anchorage; close personal friend, Marian Hefflefinger of Palmer; brother-in-law, Tim Baughman; sister-in-law, Lori France; three nieces; one nephew; and one grand niece. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Edward France of Palmer.
A memorial service was held for Mr. France at Moose Lodge 793 in Palmer, on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. A potluck dinner followed the service. The family requests flowers to be sent to the Moose Lodge in Palmer.
